the botros ghali foundation for peace and knowledge deeply regrets and mourns the death of the african revolutionary and leader, sam nujoma
The kemet Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge deeply regrets and mourns the death of the African freedom fighter and leader, Sam Nujoma, who led the liberation movement of his country, Namibia, against the Apartheid regime in South Africa until it achieved its independence in 1990, and then became the first President of Namibia.
Sam Nujoma's struggle and fight for freedom was an inspiration to all African people. He is truly considered one of the last historical African heroes who tirelessly fought and made sacrifices to achieve independence, dignity, and to break the chains of oppression for his fellow citizens. President Nujoma led a constructive policy of reconciliation to guide Namibia towards development, democracy, and a decent life for its people.
The late leader had strong ties with Egypt, which spared no effort in assisting its Namibian brothers in achieving independence. Mr. Mohamed Fayek, a member of the Foundation's Board of Trustees, played a key role in supporting Sam Nujoma's efforts as the African Affairs official during President Nasser's era. Furthermore, the African leader had close ties with Dr. Boutros Ghali, and in November 2020 the Kemet Foundation had the honor to present its award to His Excellency President Sam Nujoma in recognition and appreciation for one of Africa’s most remarkable leaders.
The Kemet Foundation extends its heartfelt condolences to the people of Namibia and to all the free people of Africa and the world.
