As part of the ongoing cooperation between the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies and the Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge, a seminar entitled “Egypt in the Region ... Egypt and the Region” was held as part of the 2025 Arab Strategic Report discussion series, bringing together a distinguished group of senior diplomats, experts, and specialists in political and strategic affairs.
The seminar opened with remarks by Dr. Ayman El-Sayed Abdel Wahab, Director of the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies, and Ambassador Laila Bahaa El-Din, Executive Director of the Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge.
The discussions featured Ambassador Dr. Mohamed El-Orabi, Ambassador Khaled Emara, Major General Dr. Mohamed Qashqoush, Ms. Rania Makram, Dr. Ziad Bahaa El-Din, Dr. Hussein Soliman, Dr. Tamer Taha, Dr. Sherif El-Khouli, Dr. Marwa Mamdouh Salem, Dr. Amira Abdel Halim, and Dr. Ahmed Askar.
The sessions addressed Egypt’s regional strategic engagement, the future of its role in Gulf security, the economic and geoeconomic repercussions of global and regional crises on the Egyptian state, and the determinants of Egyptian foreign policy amid the rapid transformations taking place across the region.
Participants stressed the importance of strengthening Egypt’s regional role and continuing intellectual and strategic dialogue to address current challenges and anticipate future developments, thereby contributing to regional stability and reinforcing Egypt’s position as a key regional and international actor.
In her opening remarks, Ambassador Laila Bahaa El-Din conveyed the greetings of Mr. Mamdouh Abbas, Chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, expressing his appreciation to the participants and to the efforts devoted to promoting intellectual and strategic dialogue.
