boutros-ghali foundation condemns israeli attack on un secretary-general
The Kemet Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge condemns the attack on the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, for his speech to the Security Council, in which he stated that the Hamas attack did not “occur in a vacuum”, called for a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and denounced clear violations of international humanitarian law.
Mamdouh Abbas, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kemit Boutros-Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge, said in a statement on Thursday: "The world has risen and has not sat down since. Despite Guterres's speech not exceeding the meaning and content of international laws, Israel, has allowed itself to do what no other country dares to do, it demanded the resignation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations."
Mamdouh Abbas added that this makes us recall the experience of Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali during his tenure as Secretary-General of the International Organization, and we remember how his exposure to the massacre of Qana carried out by Israel in southern Lebanon was a reason for not renewing his mandate again as the head of the United Nations.
The chairman of the Boutros-Ghali Foundation continued that now, as a result of American intransigence, the Security Council has failed for the third time to adopt a ceasefire resolution, and the Israeli massacre, humanitarian violations and the policy of mass displacement implemented by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people in full view of the international community, continues.
